Have you been good? What would you like to see in your stocking on Christmas morning? Here are are few suggestions for quilty gifts, whether you are shopping for a friend or planning to drop some heavy hints to your nearest and dearest...
Here's what some of our members would like to find in their stocking:-
Aurifil threads - maybe a posh collection from a designer - and cutting blades
Catherine G
A seam ripper, Clover leather thimble, a large reel of a light grey thread, a couple of packs of Schwarz machine needles and a 12 1/2 inch square.
Glenys K
Thimblepads: these are fantastic! I can't abide a thimble but so often need one. They are expensive but stay sticky forever. One will last me months
Glenys D
Fiskars scissors or pinking shears and, whilst not really a stocking filler, a Prym Mini Iron (the one that looks like a mouse): I've wanted one for ages, and so I ordered one earlier this month and it arrived last week. All Adrian has to do now is wrap it!!!
Julie H-A.
I like your style Julie!! In fact this is the system we have at home and Mark is very grateful, as long as it's not too awkward to wrap! So I have been looking - just to help him out you understand - and here are a few lovely things that I've come across this month...
Quiltmania Editions are offering 25% off their books and patterns this weekend. The offer doesn't apply to subscriptions or digital products but it does apply to back issues. So if you've ever wanted to try the magazine now is the time!
Sarah Ashford has some glitter-printed project bags to keep us all beautifully organised. She also offers a custom service if you'd like a name or favourite phrase on your bag. Sarah has always been a champion of British quilters on Instagram and on her podcast (I was lucky enough to be interviewed by her last year) and she's recently launched a Great British Quilter friendship group on Facebook.
Jo at the Crafty Nomad launched some fab sewing-themed gifts last year, including enamel pins, cards and notelets in her trademark rainbow hues. And if you're looking for a very special gift take a look at her online Sewing School.
One of my favourite online shops, Beyond Measure, stocks the most exquisite sewing accessories by Japanese brand Cohana, along with lots of other goodies that you didn't know you wanted!
If you're looking for something a little different, one of the most beautiful subscription services around is Craftpod. You can buy individual boxes or an annual subscription. They sell out fast though!
The Quilter's Guild Shop is always a really good place to look for gifts and this book caught my eye: fabric wrapped gifts are surely ideal for quilters!
For those of you who love Foundation Paper Piecing - or are buying for someone who does - Pattern Trace sells packs of printer-friendly transparent sheets that will revolutionise your piecing. I also love their Maker's Workbooks.
And not forgetting the English Paper Piecers amongst you, Jessie at Sew and Quilt has everything you need from acrylic templates and papers to beautifully packaged Tana Lawn squares.
Finally, if you've always hankered after a celebrity shopper experience, our friend Suzanne at Felt Sew Woolly is offering appointment shopping from the 2nd of December, when you can browse your favourite Liberty and Lewis & Irene prints, Gutterman and Mettler threads and lots of lovely notions. Contact Suzanne to book.
I hope that's given you a few ideas...especially for yourself ;-) After the year we've all had I'm sure Santa will be in a generous mood!
